Inclusive pedagogy is a student-centered approach to teaching that values the backgrounds, experiences, and abilities of all learners. It is particularly concerned with creating supportive and collaborative learning environments, with a focus on social justice, access, and equity.
Inclusive pedagogy invites us to examine the choices we make as instructors — the content we teach, the assignments we design, the assessments we use — and, whenever possible, to consider how they center students in the practices of teaching and learning..
The Care & Equity module of Design Forward (the CoLab’s faculty development platform), provides additional resources and readings for those who want to think more deeply about how the spaces they design for education can best support learners and promote justice and equity..
Developed in summer 2020, the ACE Framework provides professional development resources focussed on adaptability, connection, and equity.
