This IS all a crazy adventure (not of our choosing, but the necessary wake-up intrusion for making huge corrections in society and how we treat each other (valuing fellow humans more than the things we have for so long focused on accumulating). But “we” have, in a way, been here in this strange landscape before. . . .
Once in a while I try to picture what it must have been like, and what kinds of heartfelt discussions went on between students, faculty, and administrators during the 1918 pandemic, then later as the Great Depression began, during and after WWII, when the fight for Civil Rights was very much a flesh-and-blood battle, and again in the raw energy of the Vietnam War protests. Those eras must each one have felt alien and eternal; yet they passed, with so much progress being made afterwards. PSU endured it all. . . .
