Woman working from home

When COVID-19 entered our reality and everything went online, I was in a complete panic. The only work that motivated me was anything that would make the transition to online easier for our students. As the weeks stumbled on, a new sense of normalcy emerged. I took long walks every afternoon, observing spring emerge from my neighbors’ front yards in a way I never observed before. Children hung inspiring messages from house windows. By June or so, life began to feel normal again. A new normal.
Throughout all of this, one very important practical matter emerged. I needed to create a comfortable work space. Initially, I set myself up at a card table, with a wood jury chair from an Indiana county courthouse. That situation was not entirely ergonomically friendly. Eventually, I created the setup you see in the photo. Who knew that TV tray would become an excellent desk? Transitioning back to my old office and my old commute will not be easy. But I’m up for it.
