I, like many in the art community, experienced a palpable shift in the focus and inspiration of my artwork as we moved into quarantine. The world’s energy was so different and confusing and left me unmotivated to create. What was normally my escape became a prison, and my only desire was to cozy up in my chair and remain there as long as I could. It took weeks to have the feeling begin to lift, and when it did it exposed a new landscape. Still unwilling to move from my safe spot, I reached for something that I could do while sitting with a blanket on my lap. I found the Procreate app and armed with my ipad and Apple pencil I began to create again; pieces that are 180 degrees from my normal acrylic abstract style. I wonder often if I will ever return to my former style or if that is forever in the rear view. It’s a mystery, and that’s okay.
