Join the CoLab for FROST Day, a morning and afternoon all about Fellowship, Reflection, Openness, Solidarity, and Teaching. This event will incorporate both formal and informal opportunities to work, collaborate, and share with your colleagues. Attend what you can, and come and go as you need:
8:00-8:30: Breakfast and Mingling
8:30-9:00: Announcements from the CoLab. Learn about spring programming and Season Two of the Davis Grant.
9:00-12:00: Open Workshop Time. We will have multiple rooms set up for different needs and purposes:
- Grading Sprint: If you’re still working on end-of-semester grading, join colleagues in a quiet room and “body double” until you’re done (or at least closer to being done!)
- Spring Design Conversations: Join colleagues seeking feedback or sharing ideas related to spring classes.
- Teaching Challenge Discussion: Join a (lightly) moderated conversation to discuss specific challenges you encountered this fall.
- Something Else?: Do you have an idea for a conversation that would benefit from some dedicated discussion/collaboration before leaving for break? Tell us about it when you register (below), and we’ll be in touch about making space for your idea.
12:00-1:30: Davis Grant Lunch (for participants in Season One of the grant)
1:30-3:30: Faculty “Open Mic:” This will be an opportunity to share works-in-progress, thoughts about teaching, plans for the future, etc., in an informal, supportive environment. If you think you might want to be put on the program, let us know when you register. (You can also sign up later!) If you need some ideas/prompts to inspire and focus your sharing:
- Davis Grant Reflection/Sharing: If you’re a member of Season One, share a pivotal idea or experience from this summer or fall.
- “What Next?”— particularly for those in our community who are leaving PSU. 😢
- “What is teaching for?” — continue the “Conversations about Teaching” that have been happening this fall
- Series Reflections: If you’ve been a part of one of our fall series (Public Writing, Approaches to Generative AI, or “V” Work Conversations), share an important takeaway or something you wrote/created
- Colleague Tributes — take a moment to share your gratitude, respect, or admiration for a PSU colleague
- Something else? What book and album would you choose if you were stranded on a desert island? What wicked problem keeps you up at night? What are the three most important things you learned as a college student? Ideas for other prompts? Share them when you register!
All events will take place in Lamson Library!
