The Persistence of IDS Students

In higher education, “persistence” refers to the rate of students who return to the same institution to continue toward an educational goal, usually graduation. For Interdisciplinary Studies students at PSU, persistence means much more. For them, it means carving out a path, breaking out of the status quo, pursuing high-impact opportunities, and shaping their passions into an individualized major. We want our students to have the opportunity to tell their stories about persistence.

Two of our fabulous IDS students and CoLab Student Affiliates, Maya Golowasch and Casey Smith, will be producing two videos about IDS in the Fall 2019 semester. One will be aimed at current PSU students who have hit roadblocks in their academic careers and might find renewed passion through IDS. The other will be for students who are considering transferring to PSU and might find that IDS is a great option. We want these videos to consist of stories from students who were in similar situations and IDS helped them get on a path to graduate in time, stay at the university, persist, succeed, thrive.

Right now, we need student voices! Are you a current (or graduated) IDS student who has had a similar experience? Do you want to help other students who might be at that point in their academic careers? Please consider coming to the IDS office to answer 5-10 minutes of interview questions for our videos!

Filming will take place NEXT WEEK from November 12th – 15th, between our normal office hours of Mon-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM and our evening hours on Tues, 5:00-7:30 PMIf you can set aside 10 minutes of your day to help us out, we would greatly appreciate it!

Please let us know if you are interested using this form or just coming by the office during regular hours next week for filming!
