The CoLab Student Affiliates (CoSA) Program empowers students at Plymouth State University to engage in and lead innovations in teaching and learning. Student Affiliates will be hired into specific annual project-based cohorts (see descriptions below). CoLab Student Affiliates support projects related to the three areas of cluster pedagogy: interdisciplinary inquiry, project-based learning, and open learning. Student Affiliates mentor and consult with faculty, staff, and students; develop themselves as peer leaders through practice and conversation; and participate in campus-wide discussions about the challenges of higher education.
The CoLab is currently seeking students to work in the CoSA Program for the 2019-2020 academic year. Students will generally work 5 hours per week with flexible scheduling. This position is work study eligible. Starting salary is $10/hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current student at Plymouth State University
- A strong work ethic
- The ability to communicate clearly and patiently about complex issues
- Insatiable curiosity about technology, teaching and learning, and issues in higher ed
2019-2020 Project-Based Cohorts
Digital & Open Consultants: Student Affiliates in this cohort will work closely with students and faculty in classes that are experimenting with digital and open approaches to learning and teaching. Preference may be given to students who already have experience in Domain of One’s Own and/or WordPress. Student Affiliates will be expected to develop their own skills in these areas as part of their own self-directed work.
Duties may include:
- Learning about and consulting on open and digital educational practices
- Collaborating with faculty and staff on developing digital environments for courses
- Supporting students working with digital tools and in digital environments
- Doing office work
CPLC Student Participants: Student Affiliates in this cohort will participate in the Cluster Pedagogy Learning Community (CPLC). The CPLC is a community of faculty and staff engaged in projects, innovation, and institutional efforts related to teaching and learning. CPLC Student Participants will bring an important student voice into the CPLC.
Duties may include:
- Attending CPLC events and actively participating in conversations around teaching and learning
- Engaging in CPLC curriculum (completing readings, forum posts, etc.)
- Event planning and set-up
IDS Peer Mentors: Student Affiliates in this cohort will work closely with Interdisciplinary Studies students as they create their individualized majors.
Duties may include:
- Helping IDS students create their program contracts
- Peer workshopping IDS application essays
- Providing technology support on IDS ePorts
- Doing office work
