Step Two

Choose three influences you identified and write three paragraphs about the impact they had on your teaching.

Paragraph 1: Identify specific ways in which these influences can be seen in your teaching.

Paragraph 2: Discuss whether you feel like that overall impact has been positive or negative.

Paragraph 3: Imagine your future teaching self and write how you would like to further integrate or eliminate these influences.

Each influence cultivated different traits within me. Madame taught me to consummately try new learning strategies and topics. This I embrace as an educator. Stacy guide me to seek understanding through kind curiosity. Asking students how they see/understand the topic at hand. My job is to view it through their lens. Finally, one of my terminal patients encouraged me to learn all that I can, seeking out new and inventive ways.

Each of these influences have been positive. I am encouraged to be open to new ways of knowing and guiding others. Remembering that other learners present with a variety of emotions and past experiences, kind curiosity assists me to be humble and inclusive. Being hungry to seek out the strongest ways to learn and teach assists me to keep that fire burning especially with the pandemic and now the new post-pandemic normal.

I hope that I encourage other learners to take educational risks. Welcome change and failure, understanding what may not work can help to find what will work. Growth mindset, seek feedback then apply it to develop what will work.
