This is a picture of my daughter’s copy of “Goodnight Moon.” As you can see, it has been read and re-read many times over. The book itself contains little more than drawings of the same room over and over.
I think the process of learning very often involves coming back to the same thing over and over, progressively understanding and appreciating it more.
I think that the value of this kind of repetition can easily be overlooked. There are things I have learned though repetition, through coming back to the same thing again and again. And I feel like that repetition was necessary, that if someone had simply told me at the beginning what I came to understand by the end, that I would not have learned it.
