I chose a mirror as my metaphor/symbol for both teaching and learning because reflection is such a key part of education, both as a student and as a teacher. This metaphor works well for me because I try to intentionally reflect on my teaching on a regular basis to see what worked, what could have gone better, and what I learned from a particular experience. I do this informally probably on a weekly basis, but I do a much more intentional reflection at the end of each semester or even each unit of study.
