Step One
Consider the words and phrases that come to mind when you describe what you think learning should look and feel like. In the space below, record as many words and phrases that come to mind. Do not limit yourself to what you think is acceptable or generally “approved” as words to describe learning.
“I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only make them think” Socrates- this is a quote on my desk. I try to ask questions that foster reflection. I hope this is enough, but sometimes I am unsure.
‘Education is not the filling of a pot but the lighting of a fire.’ –W.B. Yeats- we can never learn everything we need through our grad program. We need to learn that we will be learners throughout our entire lives.
‘When one teaches, two learn.’ –Robert Heinlein- always feel that I can learn as much from our students as they learn from us.
