How do I add, drop or withdraw from a course?

Five Things to Know

  1. To add or drop, ask yourself, “is this during the add/drop period?”
  2. The add/drop period is anywhere from when registration opens for the following semester all the way through the first week of the following semester.
  3. If you’re withdrawing from a course, that means you are outside of the add/drop period.
  4. If you’re withdrawing from a class, you will fill out the Course Withdrawal Form which can be found on the Registrar’s Office website.
  5. The withdrawal form needs to be filled out and EMAILED to the Registrar’s Office.

A Deeper Dive

  1. BEFORE DROPPING A CLASS: make sure you have found a class that can replace the course you’re dropping so you can stay in the same amount of credits.
  2. To drop a class, find the line in the registration system where the class name is listed. You’ll see the word “Registered” highlighted in green. Click the drop down next to it that says “None” and select “Drop via Web”, then click “Submit” in the bottom right-hand corner.
  3. The Course Withdrawal Form has some information that needs to be filled in, such as the CRN (course registration number), Course ID, Course Name, and how many credits the course is. We recommend working with your advisor to help you fill out this form so all of the information is accurate.
