Scholarly Communication Librarian
Christin is the Scholarly Communication Librarian at Lamson library, which means that she pays attention to and thinks about the systems, both formal and informal, that we all use to share and disseminate our work. She finds copyright, licensing, and publishing really interesting, (which her non-librarian friends find hard to believe.) She co-manages PSU’s relatively new institutional repository, and takes part in the reference and information literacy instruction work that all the librarians at PSU share. The first “open” that she got hooked on was open access to scholarly literature (if you want to see a librarian get animated, ask her about open access.) But it wasn’t long before she fell down the rabbit hole into the worlds of open educational resources and open pedagogy. She earned her Creative Commons certification in 2018 and is happy to consult with anyone interested in working with any of the opens: CC, OA, or OER. Before coming to librarianship, she worked in horticulture (landscaping, nurseries, botanic gardens) and enjoys gardening even more now that she doesn’t do it 40 hours a week. She is also up for a game break (board or boardless, not video) anytime.
