The IDS Program would like to invite seniors graduating in Spring or Summer 2023 to apply for the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. The Interdisciplinary Studies Council will choose the winner of this award based on two main things: an essay answering our prompt, “How has Interdisciplinary Studies transformed your education/ life?” and two PSU faculty willing to act as references (note that they don’t need to write letters of recommendation). GPA may also be considered.
Essays have been critical in driving the IDS Council’s decision, so be sure to make the most of your two pages, aiming for high-impact, thoughtful, informed, and creative approaches to the topic. Use specific examples of projects completed, opportunities awarded, etc. You may use reflections that you have written in IDS Senior Seminar as a base for this essay, but please rework any past assignments you use.
The deadline for this application is March 6th, 2023 at 11:59 PM. Email us at psu-IDS@plymouth.edu if you have any questions.
Award Description: The Outstanding Senior Award is given out to exemplary graduating seniors in each academic discipline. In determining our Outstanding Senior, the Interdisciplinary Studies Program considers students who have shown a commitment to, passion for, and excellence in Interdisciplinary Studies. The Outstanding Senior must not only be a good student, but more importantly must be someone for whom interdisciplinarity is a core part of their intellectual journey, and who can articulate both how and why Interdisciplinary Studies empowered them toward new possibilities. The recipient will be honored at our End of the Year IDS Celebration.
