This is “dessert” PBL when the learning comes first and the project comes later. In TWP, we want to engage in “main course” PBL in which students learn the content of the course by engaging in the project. We do this because this is the way life mostly works. We are rarely afforded the possibility of learning everything we need to know before we engage in a task. Instead, we embark on the task and figure out what we need to know while we are trying to complete the task. How will you engage students in this potentially messy, frustrating process?
