Before I started teaching it, my colleague Jim had taught it and created 10-12 media assignments. When we started teaching it together, we decided to do something different. We created an online assignment bank that allowed anyone in the class community (which extended beyond the credit-bearing course) to submit assignment ideas. Each assignment would also receive a star rating based on its difficulty. Then, on any given week, we would assign a certain number of stars of work that had to be completed. Students could choose which assignments to do to meet the requirement.<\/p>\n
The assignment bank is still live (https:\/\/assignments.ds106.us\/) and has over 1000 media assignment ideas!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":182506,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"design_bite_tag":[221,215],"design_bite_type":[210],"df_module":[178,176],"genai_activity":[],"mini_syllabi_group":[],"portfolio_type":[207],"class_list":["post-187658","portfolio_part","type-portfolio_part","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","design_bite_tag-hom-self-regulated-learning","design_bite_tag-open-education","design_bite_type-assignment","df_module-designing","df_module-tech","portfolio_type-design-bites","wpbf-post"],"edit_form_id":"118","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/portfolio_part\/187658","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/portfolio_part"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/portfolio_part"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=187658"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/portfolio_part\/187658\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/182506"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=187658"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"design_bite_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/design_bite_tag?post=187658"},{"taxonomy":"design_bite_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/design_bite_type?post=187658"},{"taxonomy":"df_module","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/df_module?post=187658"},{"taxonomy":"genai_activity","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/genai_activity?post=187658"},{"taxonomy":"mini_syllabi_group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/mini_syllabi_group?post=187658"},{"taxonomy":"portfolio_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/colab.plymouthcreate.net\/design-forward\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/portfolio_type?post=187658"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
