The information ecosystem that we live in is a complicated place.  This infographic, designed by PSU student Brooke Flanagan, helps make the complexity visible. 

It can be challenging to evaluate information found online without first understanding some of the different kinds of sources and the motivations of their creators.  Review these Format Resources for ideas on how to help students understand different information formats. 

Evaluating information found online doesn’t have to be hard, but it does take practice.  Review these Web Evaluation Resources for ideas on incorporating this evaluation into TWP. 

Read Chapter 8: Researching Wicked Problems from the TWP OER.  Browse the other information literacy chapters to see which ones might be appropriate for your TWP section.

Information literacy, or understanding the information ecosystem, is core to a student’s success in TWP. Why do you think the information ecosystem is such a central part of a course like TWP?
