DESIGNING FOR EDUCATION

Design Forward

Weekly Dispatch: Monday, July 28, 2025

Welcome to the “final” week of our summer curriculum. I put that in quotes because we understand that some of you may still be catching up on module work, and you’re welcome to continue to engage with DF modules into August. I apologize for the somewhat lengthier video this week — I do encourage you to watch the whole thing as there are some important reminders in it (but feel free to watch it on 2X speed!)

I’ll also run down a few of those reminders (and other stuff) here:

  1. IMPORTANT: Please make sure you’ve filled out the scheduling poll for our University Days meeting. We’re anxious to try and pin down a day/time that will work for as many of you as possible. This poll is no longer necessary as we have secured a lunch time slot during University Days on August 21st (check your emails for details).
  2. IMPORTANT: Please try to complete the “Final” Reflection activity this week. Even if you’re still catching up on other work, this activity is an opportunity to take a moment to reflect on where you are in your Design Forward journey — and to provide us with important feedback to shape programming in August and beyond.
  3. NEW: Check out this new resource by Hannah Mallon that she is workshopping with all of us! Hannah is looking for any/all feedback on this piece that she can incorporate into a blog post to go on the CoLab’s website this fall.
  4. If you haven’t yet, check out the new Highlights feature on the DF website. You can add highlights from the home page, your portfolio, and individual questions and portfolio pieces. These are a way for you to “bookmark” resources, conversations, and contributions that have been particularly meaningful for you.
  5. As you’re finishing up your work, don’t forget about “Design Bites” — a way for you to share particularly creative and effective design approaches you’ve taken (or are planning on taking) in your classes. Share how you approached a whole class or just a specific assignment. Participants in DF are often looking for “practical” advice about how others have tackled challenging teaching situations; this is your chance to help us grow a library of tips!

As always, reach out on Teams if you’re having any problems or if you have any questions!!!

Report a Website Problem

Let us know if you are experiencing an issue. We will grab info about what page you are on when you reported this problem, but let us know anything you're seeing that is strange!
