Kim joined the faculty at Plymouth State University in 2017 and has served as the Director of the Social Work Program since 2021. In her career, Kim has worked as the Director, Clinical Director, and Case Manager at permanent supportive housing programs and other residential settings in New York City and Maine. While working in these settings, she became aware of the challenges in our systems serving people experiencing homelessness. She began pursuing her graduate education to learn more about systems change and with a drive to have the greatest impact. She studied at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College where she earned her MSW and PhD in Social Welfare and worked with the founders of Critical Time Intervention, an evidence-based model for facilitating supportive transitions out of homelessness, hospitalization, and incarceration. Recently, she has partnered with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services to implement and support 10 programs across the state to assist individuals transitioning into the community following a psychiatric hospitalization. Kim brings her social work values into the classroom and her relationships to students. She aims to support students inside and outside of the classroom, highlighting systems change, dignity, and social justice in social work. Kim also participates in groups related to homeless services including with the Center for the Advancement of CTI, Youth Success Project, New Hampshire Bureau of Homeless Services, and Bridge House Shelter Board of Directors.
