Problem Solving is a habit of mind that involves an iterative process of identifying, explaining, and exploring problems, describing challenges, envisioning possible solutions and their implication, and make decision about how to proceed based on all of these considerations. Problem solving encompasses a broad array of activities and approaches.1 Plymouth State University. (2019). General Education Requirements. Teamwork & Collaboration

Creative problem solving requires us to suspend limiting beliefs about ourselves and others, and to courageously step into the unknown. If we continue to apply familiar responses to a familiar issue, we can expect familiar results. Instead, recognize the opportunity to challenge the status quo by applying solution-oriented thinking. Just because something has not yet been accomplished or does not yet exist, doesn’t mean that it cannot come to fruition.

Student clubs and organizations have the opportunities to positively impact the fabric of our campus community by providing meaningful, collaborative, and inclusive experiences for students. The Student Government Association (SGA) provides resources for clubs and organizations to do this important work. There are two ways that clubs and organizations can seek funding through the SGA in support of operations and programming.
Allocations
Allocations are funds received from Plymouth State University and the SGA for your club/organization. Allocations help you operate your club or organization and require you to work together as a team to build up your club/organization and collaborate with other campus partners.
An allocation is a sum of money awarded by Plymouth State University for your club/organization to use for general operations.
Allocations applications will go live on March 1st, 2023 and will close March 31st, 2023. If you do not submit your application on time, your club/organization will not receive an allocation.
CEA Requests
The Conferences, Events, and Activities (CEA) Form will be reviewed by the SGA’s Finance Committee between the months of August and April. This form gives clubs/organizations the opportunity to host events held on campus, and support opportunities to give back to the community.
FOPAL
A FOPAL is The Fund, Organization, Account and Program codes are the primary charts of accounts elements used for classification, budgeting, recording, and/or reporting. This is the code you use to pay for all the amazing things your club/organization does this year!
Wrap-Up
Creative problem solving looks toward possibilities and relies on teamwork and collaboration. As human beings, we need each other. It is important to honor each person for the unique individuality they bring. Approaching team work with openness and curiosity paves the way for new and exciting results. We must recognize that diverse perspectives enrich a team and add to the texture of our collective tapestry.
How can you help to build inclusive and diverse teams where everyone is valued as you engage in co-curricular opportunities? In what ways can you bring a sense of openness and curiosity to your participation in clubs and organizations?
