Programmatic Assessment
The primary purpose of University Assessment Process is to continually improve the quality and efficacy of academic programs and student learning. Effective assessment is cyclical and ongoing, providing programs with the data to support growth and inform thoughtful and intentional changes for future improvement and advanced learning.
The assessment cycle involves steps that, when applied in meaningful and measurable ways, allow programs to manage content and create processes for sustainable improvement. Individual program assessment plans may inform the Academic Unit (AU) work plan and play an integral role in the six-year Academic Program Review. The annual assessment plan builds over time to inform the Program Review every six years.
The steps of Annual Academic Program Assessment include developing student learning outcomes, creating a curriculum map, identifying the activities (key assessments) that will provide the desired data, creating assessment plans to measure learning against these outcomes, collecting and entering data into Taskstream, analyzing data, and using what is learned to create positive change and improvement.
